OceanTracker offers very important benefits in terms of security and safety. Thanks to its accuracy (within a few metres), owners or other interested parties can keep up-to-date with the yacht's whereabouts, meaning that theft and unauthorised use of a yacht would be quickly detected. An optional 'position broadcast button' is available which, if activated polls out positional reports showing the yacht's exact GPS position.

Geo-fencing

"Geo-fencing" is an additional feature whereby the D+ unit can be programmed to operate within predetermined co-ordinates e.g. 40 miles radius around a group of islands. Should the yacht stray beyond this boundary, an alarm will be raised automatically and the yacht's current GPS position displayed.

Discreet Surveillance System (DSS) - a fully redundant unit

If you are concerned with theft or piracy then the Discreet Surveillance System (DSS) may be the answer. Basically, it is a Inmarsat D+ unit, intelligent interface and internal power supply all contained within a sealed box hidden onboard the yacht. The unit is connected to the vessels main power supply which trickle-charges the internal batteries. If the power goes down, or the yacht is hi-jacked and the communication cable is cut, or the unit tampered with or the optional panic button is pressed, then the unit starts polling out positional reports providing the yachts exact GPS position.
